Ian Hunter is a versatile garden designer with a background in engineering and a life-long interest in plants.

Ian qualified as a garden designer four years ago with the Pickard School of Garden Design and since then he has created numerous beautiful gardens in and around Edinburgh.

For Ian, garden design and construction is more than a job — it’s a passion. His practical building skills enable him to visualise and utilise space in often unconventional yet harmonious ways. Ian Hunter’s gardens can be bold and experimental while still retaining a timeless, traditional feel due to his love of beautiful reclaimed sandstone, cobbles and specially-worked timbers. Ian Hunter’s gardens are always a one-off!

During the construction phase Ian works with a small, skilled trusted team and oversees every stage of the garden’s development, giving continuity from design to completion.
